BreathX Collective offers coaching and educational practices. We are not a medical or psychiatric provider. Please read this carefully before participating in any breathwork, cold exposure, or coaching session.

1. Not medical advice

Information and practices shared by BreathX, including by Victor Goenka, are for educational and personal-development purposes only. They are not a substitute for medical diagnosis, psychiatric treatment, psychotherapy, or addiction-medicine care. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning any breathwork, cold exposure, or nervous-system practice — especially if you have a pre-existing condition.

2. Not addiction treatment

BreathX is a coaching practice. It is not a substitute for medical detox, inpatient treatment, 12-step recovery, medication-assisted treatment, or other clinically indicated addiction care. If you are physically dependent on alcohol, benzodiazepines, opioids, or any substance for which withdrawal can be dangerous, you must consult a physician before stopping use. Do not attempt to detox alone.

3. Breathwork contraindications

Active conscious-connected, holotropic, and high-ventilation breathwork can be intense. Do not practice these techniques without medical clearance if any of the following apply to you:

  • Pregnancy.
  • Cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled high blood pressure, or history of stroke.
  • Epilepsy or seizure disorder.
  • Aneurysm (personal or family history).
  • Glaucoma or detached retina.
  • Severe asthma (without inhaler access).
  • Recent surgery, broken ribs, or recent injury.
  • Severe mental-health conditions including psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar I, or active suicidal ideation.
  • Currently taking medication that affects heart rate, blood pressure, or seizures.

4. Cold exposure contraindications

Cold plunges and ice baths are a powerful nervous-system tool but carry real risk. Do not practice cold exposure without medical clearance if you have:

  • Cardiovascular disease, arrhythmia, or pacemaker.
  • Uncontrolled high or low blood pressure.
  • Raynaud's disease, cold urticaria, or cold agglutinin disease.
  • Pregnancy.
  • Open wounds or recent surgery.

Never practice cold exposure alone in deep water or without supervision.

5. Crisis support

BreathX is not an emergency service. If you are in crisis or thinking of harming yourself or someone else, please contact local emergency services or a crisis line immediately. In Mexico, call 911 or SAPTEL at 55 5259-8121. Elsewhere, contact your local equivalent.

6. Assumption of risk

By participating in any BreathX session, program, or community activity, you acknowledge the information above, confirm you've considered your own health context, and accept responsibility for your own wellbeing. You agree to stop any practice that feels unsafe and to seek medical care when appropriate.

7. No guarantee of outcomes

Every nervous system is different. What works profoundly for one person may not work for another. We share our methods honestly and do not guarantee any specific result.
